Amrut Ex-Port Pipe Indian Single Malt Whisky is a rich and intensely fruity expression that highlights the accelerated maturation of the Bangalore climate combined with the deep influence of fortified wine. Initially matured in ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is finished in massive Portuguese Port Pipes (approximately 550 litres), which impart a distinctive "tawny" character and a lush, ruby-copper hue. This unpeated single malt is typically bottled at 46.2% ABV without chill-filtration, though single-cask versions (like the BSW Barrel) are often released at cask strength. The profile is defined by a dense bouquet of stewed plums, raisins, and dark chocolate, balanced by Amrut’s signature spicy malt. On the palate, it is full-bodied and "chewy," featuring layers of honeyed nuts, black cherries, and sweet oak, leading to a long, warming finish with lingering notes of port wine and cinnamon.
