The Story
This wine was originally known as the Biondi-Santi “White Label Brunello”, but changed its name in 1983, when the Rosso di Montalcino DOC was established. It reflects the signature style of our high-altitude vineyards with a vibrant freshness and a distinct fruitiness which makes it thoroughly enjoyable at a young age.
The Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo Rosso di Montalcino 2020 is considered an exceptional vintage for the estate's "White Label," often outperforming the Brunellos of other producers from the same year. It was released in 2023 following a growing season marked by a cool spring and warm, dry summer, resulting in a wine with high aromatic intensity and great structural balance.
Wine Enthusiast
The nose is floral and sweet, but refreshing thanks to clean, balancing aromas of mint and dirt. The palate takes that freshness a step further, to a light, bouncy, almost astringent level. Precocious tannins are young yet dense and supportive, while jubilant acid sings.
