The Story
Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Clynelish 2008 17 Year Old "Whisky on the West Coast" is a highly exclusive single-cask bottling released as a Western Canada exclusive. Selected by Matt James of the "Whisky on the West Coast" platform, this 2008 vintage was matured for 17 years in a single refill sherry hogshead. It was bottled at cask strength on July 1, 2025, to commemorate Canada Day, with a limited outturn of only 251 bottles.
On the nose, it delivers an inviting bouquet of fruitcake, pressed apple, and warm ginger spice, underpinned by toasted hazelnuts and Demerara sugar. The palate is rich and oily—true to the Clynelish distillery character—showcasing flavours of blackcurrant and cherry followed by milk chocolate raisins, orange marmalade, and roasted coffee beans. The finish is long and spicy, characterized by lingering forest fruits, mature oak, and a subtle hint of menthol and black pepper.
