The Story
The Château Batailley Lions de Batailley 2015 is the second wine of the renowned 5th Growth estate in Pauillac, crafted to offer the estate's signature pedigree with a more approachable, fruit-forward character. The 2015 vintage in Pauillac was characterized by an excellent growing season that produced wines with great aromatic complexity and silky, well-integrated tannins. This expression is noted for its charming profile of ripe blackcurrants, cedar, and tobacco, maintaining the classic structure and graphite-like minerality typical of the region while being ready to enjoy sooner than the Grand Vin.
92 Points - James Suckling
Some impressive presence and depth to this second wine of Château Batailley. It offers ample oak spices and earthy notes amid aromas of raspberries and red cherry compote. The palate is energetic and nicely arranged with smooth tannins that cast a gently grainy texture through the finish. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 6% cabernet franc amd 1% petit verdot. Try from 2021.
