The Story
The 2016 Château Marsyas Rouge is a premium and classically structured Lebanese red, representing a modern renaissance of the ancient Bekaa Valley terroir. Sourced from high-elevation vineyards at 900 metres above sea level, this vintage benefited from a balanced growing season that allowed for optimal fruit maturity. It presents a deep ruby robe with purple reflections and a sophisticated bouquet of blackcurrants, wild strawberries, and black cherries, seamlessly integrated with notes of licorice, leather, and fine pepper. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, showcasing a "spherical" texture with tight, perfectly coated tannins and a vibrant line of mineral acidity. Aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels under the guidance of consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, it concludes with a long, silky finish marked by hints of cocoa and warm spices.
