This artisanal spirit is the first whisky distilled within the Chianti Classico region, produced by the Chioccioli Altadonna family at their Winestillery. It is crafted using a unique blend of Italian malted barley, rye, and wheat, which undergoes a six-day spontaneous fermentation in 700-litre terracotta amphorae using native yeasts. Distilled in a custom-made Frilli copper pot still, the whisky is aged for approximately three to four years in ex-Super Tuscan wine casks—specifically French oak barriques from the family’s own winery. The result is a complex, vinous whisky featuring a bouquet of rye spice, ginger, and nutmeg, balanced on the palate by notes of stewed pear, honey, and toasted walnuts with a silky, persistent finish.
