The Story
Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino is the flagship expression of the estate, representing a classic and elegant style of Sangiovese. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards surrounding a historic 12th-century fortress in the cooler, northern part of Montalcino, the wine is defined by its aromatic lift and structural grace. It undergoes approximately 24 months of aging in oak barrels followed by significant refinement in the bottle before release.
On the nose, it offers a sophisticated bouquet of ripe red cherry, wild plum, and crushed violets, seamlessly layered with notes of sandalwood, leather, and forest floor. The palate is medium-to-full bodied and remarkably balanced, showcasing a core of bright red fruits supported by refined, chalky tannins and a vibrant acidity. The finish is long and savory, leaving a persistent impression of mineral tension and Mediterranean herbs.
