The Story
Castello Romitorio Filo di Seta Brunello di Montalcino is the estate's premier single-vineyard expression, named after the "silk thread" stream that flows nearby. The vineyard is situated on a high-altitude, northwest-facing slope characterized by cooler temperatures and complex schist and clay soils. This unique microclimate produces a Brunello defined by its ethereal elegance, mineral tension, and "silky" texture, contrasting with the more muscular styles found in warmer parts of Montalcino.
On the nose, it offers a sophisticated and high-toned bouquet of red cherry, wild cranberry, and crushed violets, layered with distinct notes of flint, lavender, and white pepper. The palate is medium-to-full bodied and remarkably precise, showcasing a core of vibrant red fruit supported by fine-grained, chalky tannins and a racy acidity. The finish is exceptionally long and clean, leaving a lingering impression of savory herbs and a salty, mineral lift.
