The Story
Romitorio di Santedame, a limited-production Gran Selezione from Castellina in Chianti, pays homage to a rich history while embracing a bright future. A blend of Sangiovese and Colorino, a nearly forgotten indigenous Tuscan grape variety that has been revived in recent years through research and preservation efforts, made from grapes grown in the “Conca d’Oro” of Chianti Classico.
Pair with grilled and roasted meats as well as aged cheese.
94 Points - Wine Spectator
Beginning to settle into a groove, this red offers a deep well of plum, cherry and blackberry fruit. Earth, iron and leather elements emerge, all framed in spicy oak. Backed by dense tannins yet balanced, this ends with echoes of fruit and sweet spices. Sangiovese and Colorino. Best from 2026 through 2042.
