This is a rich and complex expression of Chardonnay from the Scherrer Vineyard. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed to French oak cooperage, where primary and malolactic fermentation occurred. All of these elements were allowed to integrate during its more than yearlong residence in wood. It was bottled without fining or filtration to respect both its delicacy and its more substantial qualities.
Rich and complex Chardonnay from the Scherrer Vineyard which is aged nearly 2 years in French oak on its lees. Lemon curd with a twist of lime zest, mineral notes and a gorgeous rounded mouthfeel. Beautifully balanced with bright acidity and a lengthy finish.
Pair with roast chicken, seafood chowder, seafood Alfredo.
91 Points - Vinous
The 2020 Chardonnay Scherrer Vineyard is another very pretty Chardonnay in this very tricky vintage. Tangerine peel, passion fruit and apricot, suggest a Chardonnay with a slightly advanced profile, but I doubt that will be an issue for most readers. Here, too, the balance is simply impeccable, especially within the context of the year.
