Chicken Cock Double Oak features a traditional bourbon mash bill, but boasts a wildly unique maturation story. Due to a severe barrel shortage in 2014, this spirit spent its first seven years resting in used bourbon barrels. To elevate the flavor profile, it was then transferred into brand new, Level 4 alligator-charred American white oak barrels for an additional 18 months. Bottled in their signature Prohibition-era apothecary decanter at 92 proof (46% ABV), this double-barreling process extracts deeply robust, complex, and dessert-like flavors without ever becoming overly woody or tannic.
NOSE
Deep, rich, and highly inviting with prominent aromas of dark chocolate-covered berries, toasted coconut shavings, and sweet caramel coffee.
PALATE
Exceptionally smooth, round, and full-bodied. Lush, dessert-like flavors of vanilla bean, sweet waffle cone, steeped dark berries, and warm baking spices completely coat the palate.
FINISH
Medium-long, round, and perfectly balanced, leaving a lingering, creamy trail of crème brûlée and cinnamon flan.
