The Story
A historic and deeply symbolic release from Hartfield & Co., the first distillery to legally produce bourbon in its namesake county since Prohibition! To celebrate the rich legacy of the "Birthplace of Bourbon," they crafted this expression using a traditional wheated mash bill (70% corn, 20% wheat, and 10% malted barley). Aged for a minimum of four years in full-sized 53-gallon charred oak barrels, this bourbon is bottled at a bold 110 proof (55% ABV). It represents a more refined, delicate side of the Hartfield portfolio, moving away from their usual high-malt smoke and tobacco notes toward a classic, sweet, and creamy profile that honors Kentucky’s 18th-century pioneers.
NOSE
Warm and inviting with a delightful "sweet candy" opening, followed by rich caramel, vanilla bean, and a hint of soft floral honey.
PALATE
Delicate and remarkably approachable despite the high proof. Lush flavors of light caramel and butterscotch transition into a bright, creamy orange cream and toasted wheat.
FINISH
Medium-long and warming, leaving a pleasant, lingering tingle of light pepper spice and sweet oak.
