The Story
One of the most unique rye whiskeys on the market! Hailing from the female-led distilling team at Spirit Works in Sonoma, CA, this 3-year-old straight rye was finished for a full year in a cask that previously held the distillery’s own authentic Sloe Gin (a red liqueur made from sloe berries). Bottled at a cask strength of 113 proof (56.5% ABV), this is a "Boulevardier in a bottle." The rye’s natural spice is transformed by the botanical, berry-heavy influence of the sloe gin cask, creating a profile that is unlike anything else in the whiskey world.
NOSE
Intriguing and fruit-heavy. Aromas of strawberry cream, rhubarb, and crushed juniper berries mixed with soft rye grain.
PALATE
Bold and layered. Sweet strawberry and vanilla cream notes hit first, quickly followed by a ramp-up of sharp black peppercorn and rye spice.
FINISH
Mouth-filling and fiery. Long-lasting heat with notes of leather, sweet oak, and a faint lingering berry tartness.
