The Story
A truly spectacular and historically significant release from the New York Distilling Company. Jaywalk Heirloom Rye is crafted from a mash bill featuring 75% Horton Rye—a 17th-century heirloom grain that the distillery painstakingly revived from just 10 seeds! Aged for a full seven years in newly charred oak and bottled completely uncut at cask strength (typically around 114 to 116 proof), it completely redefines the rye category. Instead of the typical heavy pepper spice, this heirloom grain produces stunningly rich, tropical, and caramelized flavors that you won't find in a standard commercial rye.
NOSE
Highly aromatic and sweet with unique notes of candied pineapple, ripe apricot, floral honey, and gentle oak.
PALATE
Thick, rich, and mouth-coating. Complex layers of tropical fruit, caramelized brown sugar, and crème brûlée are beautifully balanced by an earthy, herbal rye undertone.
FINISH
Long, smooth, and incredibly memorable, leaving a warm trail of sweet vanilla and gentle baking spice.
